Lithops, also known as living stones, are fascinating succulents from southern Africa. Their unusual appearance - which looks like small pebbles or stones - serves as camouflage in their natural environment. The plants consist of two thick, fleshy leaves that divide in the center, where a single, colorful flower occasionally appears. Lithops prefer bright light, well-drained substrate and minimal watering, especially in summer when they are in a dormant phase. In fall and spring, they grow actively and then need a little more water - but only when the substrate is completely dry. Waterlogging or too much water can easily lead to rot. Their compact size makes them ideal for small pots, windowsills or miniature gardens. With the right care, Lithops can live for decades and flower beautifully every year.
