Echeveria pulvinata ‘Frosty’, also known as snow star, is a charming succulent from the Crassulaceae family. This variety is characterized by its dense white hairs (trichomes) on the leaves, which give it a velvety, frosty appearance - hence the name “Frosty”. The plant grows like a shrub with upright, strongly branched stems. The individual rosettes are compact and slightly cupped. The leaves are spatulate to ovate, thick-fleshed, slightly concave on the upper side, slightly triangular on the underside and sometimes reddish at the tips - especially when exposed to strong sunlight. In spring or late fall, the snow star echeveria forms decorative, umbrella-shaped inflorescences with bright orange-red, bell-shaped flowers. Care instructions: Light: Full sun to partial shade; as much light as possible in autumn and winter for compact growth and intense coloration. Water: Water regularly but sparingly during the growth phases (spring, fall). Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Substrate: Well-drained succulent soil with a high proportion of mineral components (e.g. pumice, perlite, lava granules). Summer: Tolerates heat, but high humidity and waterlogging can lead to root rot. Winter: Can also be cultivated outdoors in frost-free regions. At temperatures below 0 °C, winter protection or overwintering indoors is necessary. Special features: Dense, white hairs on all parts of the plant Red-colored leaf tips with sufficient sun Bright flowering in late spring Ideal for pots, succulent arrangements and sunny windowsills Handmade and painted planter made of breathable and water-absorbent clay, fired at a high temperature for long-lasting color.
